Kochi Tuskers Kerala 135-3 (McCullum 47) beat
Chennai Super Kings 131-4 (Raina 50) by 7 wickets
Ravi Jadeja played a starring role for the second match in a row as the Kochi Tuskers Kerala followed up a win over the Mumbai Indians with an equally impressive victory over reigning Indian Premier League champions Chennai Super Kings.
Jadeja was unbeaten on 16 in just six balls as his side won a rain-affected encounter by seven wickets with two overs to spare, closing on 135 for three in reply to the Super Kings' 131 for four in 17 overs.
In between the rain, Chennai reached their score thanks to a fine knock of 50 in 40 balls from Suresh Raina but his run out in the 16th over knocked them back. Murali Vijay cracked an eye-catching 28 in 18 balls after Michael Hussey fell early for eight while Subramaniam Badrinath made 19 in 17 balls before he was trapped in fron tby Raiphi Gomez.
Ever-dependable Mahendra Singh Dhoni hit 15 not out in 13 balls while Albie Morkel hit one big straight six to be unbeaten on nine as RP Singh and Tissara Perera also picked up a wicket.
McCullum then led Kochi's charge, slamming three huge sixes and hitting four fours on his way to 47 in 33 balls while Mahela Jayawardene played his part, making 16 in 11 deliveries with two fours and a maximum before he looped Ravi Ashwin to Anirudha Srikkanth for a simple catch.
McCullum was also caught when he too failed to get Ashwin away, but thanks to an excellent half-century partnership between himself and Patel, Kochi were always on target for the win.
Despite Patel's wicket, which fell when he pulled Doug Bollinger to Srikkanth at deep square leg, Kochi finished the game in style with Jadeja providing the fireworks and Brad Hodge the glue - the experienced Australia not out on 19 in 14 balls, making amends for an earlier drop in the field.
The result saw the Tuskers leapfrog the Super Kings into fourth place in the table
